Christopher Kulendran Thomas combines painting and television across two major bodies of work. A 26-channel video installation continually auto-edits American television footage first broadcast before September 11, 2001, and a series of expressionistic paintings imagining scenes from an undocumented massacre on the beaches of Mullivaikkal in Sri Lanka. The exhibition uses AI technologies to examine the foundational fictions of Western individualism and complex legacies of imperialism.
