Thought forms from the queer utopia imaginarium presents vivid, abstract paintings by Lucy Chetcuti inspired by tree canopies, seen through the eyes of a queer person searching for hope, joy, beauty, intimacy, community and connection. Created in response to the rise of fascism, white supremacy and imminent climate collapse, the works form a socio-political tool for imagining and building a better world. The exhibition reaches for an idealised queer utopia as a necessary condition of hope and change. Chetcuti's works are expressions of a deeply personal inner world, coded in the language of abstraction, drawing from walks on Ngunnawal and Ngambri Country. Her experimental visual language uses colour, texture and material to evoke emotion and memory, sitting between the personal and the universal.
